Chude Jideonwo Speaks at The Tribe’s ReWire Event on Overcoming Depression
Chude Jideonwo, author of How Depression Saved My Life, recently spoke at The Tribe’s ReWire event, offering a practical approach to dealing with depression, sadness, grief, and loss. The event, held at The Tribe’s ministry, provided an environment for open discussions about personal growth and spiritual development.
In his talk, Chude shared key insights about the challenges of facing tough emotions. He stated, “Nothing will slow you down like depression, anxiety, deep sadness, grief, or loss,” encouraging attendees to face their emotions head-on. “Don’t be afraid of the depression. Feel it, cry through it, but don’t let it bully you. It’s a gift under a wrapping and that wrapping is a gift of discovery and encounter of yourself,” he explained.
Chude also discussed how his personal experience with depression led him to a spiritual awakening and how those difficult moments ultimately shaped his life. He emphasized the importance of not wasting life’s toughest times, suggesting that they can be a catalyst for growth.
“You can’t know how to be happy if you don’t know how to be sad,” Chude added, highlighting that understanding sadness is an important part of personal development.
Reflecting on his experience at The Tribe’s ReWire event, Chude shared, “I am very happy that I could finally do this, because the atmosphere at their ReWire is exactly what church should be.”
Chude, who has been friends with Pastor Ferdinand Adimefe for over a decade, had previously been invited to speak at events hosted by The Tribe but had not been able to attend. He was pleased to finally participate in the ReWire event, where he shared insights from his book and personal journey.
