Raped them, then set them on fire.| Reverend King: Nigeria’s deadliest cult leader| True crime special

There are stories so dark, so terrifying, that you almost wish they were fiction. But this one is not. This is the story of Reverend Emeka Ezeugo, better known as Reverend King – once parading himself as a man of God, but in reality, a man whose name became synonymous with fear, abuse, and cruelty.

In 2006, his case shook Nigeria to its core. Women stripped and made to serve him naked, followers beaten until they could not move, and in the most horrifying acts – doused in fuel and set on fire. Even after his conviction and death sentence, his church continues to thrive, his followers continue to defend him, and his last birthday was celebrated with paid newspaper ads. It is a chilling reminder of the grip of power, even when built on violence and lies.

On this true crime special of #WithChude, we return to this story, speaking with those who lived through it, those who still carry the scars, and those who refuse to let memory fade. Because stories like this must be told. So that the victims are never forgotten, and so no one ever mistakes fear and control for the will of God again.
