‘Madam President’ Screening Brings Creatives and Industry Voices Together for a Conversation on Leadership and Representation

The three-part political drama Madam President was celebrated on Friday, August 14, with a special screening and roundtable conversation bringing together creatives, storytellers and industry voices for an evening centred on leadership, representation, politics and the power of storytelling. The project, supported by the British Council and powered in partnership with Africa No Filter, CcHUB, YNaija Productions and Joy, Inc., is executive produced by Chude Jideonwo, with Jennifer Mairo serving as producer.

The screening was followed by a lively roundtable moderated by Omolabake Fakorede alongside leading creative voices Tope Sanni and the producer Jennifer Mairo. The conversation explored the themes raised by Madam President, including women in leadership, the realities of power and politics, the responsibility of storytellers, and the role of creative work in challenging perceptions and shaping public conversations.

The evening offered a meaningful opportunity for audiences to engage with the story beyond the screen, reflecting on the questions Madam President asks about who gets to lead, what leadership demands, and what becomes possible when women occupy spaces where they have historically been underrepresented. It was a celebration of the series, its cast and creative team, and most importantly, the conversations the story continues to inspire.
